Advocacy Portfolio

2024-Present Orygen
I am a Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG) member for the Whole of Self Affirming Care project. This research project is centred on improving the mental health of Australian trans and gender-diverse youth in Australian headspace centres.

2022-2024 Arts Access Victoria

I was a member of the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) for two years during which I provided consultation on how to make online/hybrid programs accessible, welcoming and intentional, how to support young Deaf and Disabled people starting work, ways to create inclusive spaces to create meaningful connections, how to improve AAV’s marketing and communications to include young people and much more.

As part of Art Access Victoria’s 50-year anniversary, I joined a panel of YAC members to speak at AAV’s celebratory event The Collective, where we discussed what the future of the arts looks like for Deaf and Disabled communities.

2021 North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN)

I was a participant in the NWMPHN’s #SpeakingUpSpeaksVolumes campaign which focused on the prevention of suicide in LGBTIQA+ communities. The campaign highlighted young people and key allies who had supported them at different parts of their mental health journey.

2016 Teach for Australia - TransformEDx Conference

As a student, I co-ran an Inclusive Education workshop at the annual Teach For Australia TransformEDx Conference in Melbourne. Teachers heard student perspectives on the importance of recognition and understanding of gender and sexuality, including increased awareness of the challenges LGBTQIA+ students face in a school environment and strategies to reduce stigma – then, workshopped the application of safe strategies in their own contexts.

2016 Parliament of Australia - Scullin Youth Advisory Committeee

As a member of this committee, I consulted with MP Andrew Giles, leadership members of his office and other young people to lead projects on a variety of issues affecting youth in the electorate of Scullin.

2015 City of Whittlesea

In collaboration with the YMCA, City Of Whittlesea, Integrity Business College and Baseline, I participated in the YMCA Youth Engagement Project. This was a year-long leadership project in which myself and other young people within the City Of Whittlesea successfully organised and ran a charity music event to support those affected by domestic violence.
